Just what is DWF?

A DWF file is a highly compressed 2D vector file that you can use to publish your AutoCAD drawing on the World Wide Web.
Using a Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, and the WHIP! plug-in provided by Autodesk, you and others can view your drawings via the Internet (provided you have posted them to an Internet server and the viewer has Internet access) or 'post' them locally to a server and view them over a LAN or view them locally on one machine.
The WHIP! plug-in provides dynamic pan and zoom capabilities. The latest release has print and layer visability options.

The AutoCAD Internet Utilities (provided as a bonus application) let you embed URLs (Universal Resource Locators) into your AutoCAD drawings, which become hyperlinks to other Web pages when the drawing is saved as a DWF file. You can download the latest version of this from Autodesk.

You can set the precision of your DWF files between 16 and 32 bits, with the default being 20 bits. For simple drawings there's little visual difference. However, for more complex drawings and fine details, you'll need higher precision. Hidden line DWF tends to show the lack of line quality.
